Last Night

It was simply incredible.

We were at the family function as promised. Invitation RSVP-ed, table reserved.

Everyone was there.

Somehow, we were to end up dirty dancing for all to see.

How the hell was I going to do it, without embarrassing her? Embarrassing myself, not a problem. But I couldn't risk it with her in my arms.

Not after I read she had bad taste in choosing me.

The time came. I confidently got up, took her by her gentle fingers, and led her to the dancefloor.

"Don't show your fear, and nobody will know", I told myself.

The music began. Something latin, playing very faintly in the distant.

She looked amazing in a simple white dress. She was born beautiful.

All I could do there and then, was put her arms around my neck, and I leaned forward to feel her candy lips. Before I know it, she took me by the hand and we walked out of the hall, loud clapping following our trail.

Alas, it was just a perfect dream that ended too soon.

Naturally Mind Blown

I could never have her courage to be so trusting. To a good friend, much less to a third party.

She's one of those rare people I think, that can fit into any situation. She was so candid, and I admired that.

Because I found myself shackled by nervousness in my own space.

We traded thoughts, but mostly she. I was busy trying to keep cool. Telling myself to "look ahead".

We found common ground in more than one platform. She spoke enthusiastically about her true aspiration. I thanked God she wasn't who she wanted to be, or else we'd never be at this junction together.

Then we had a long discussion involving inches. How she was, from my opinion, particular about the honesty. I never knew an inch or two could make so much difference till then. I never had that problem, you see. Bored? Of course not. Amused? I definitely was.

I just wished I knew how to react to something I could not relate to. I was fearing that she'd think I found her uninteresting.

For she was mesmerizing. More likely, I was the bore who would talk about Krafts being the second largest food and beverage company in the world.

Fortunately, I think she digged it.

I Assumed Correctly

It was a rather pale night. From where I stood, I could not see the moon. There weren't many stars as well, but maybe that was due to the bright lights around me.

It had been nearly a day since the acquaintance. Tonight again I was alone, but not for long.

I remember watching hungry drivers zoom by me. My day was empty anyhow, so I stood there enjoying the lifeless skies while waiting for her. Estimation, wasn't her forte. But who's is it anyway?

I would not call it the waiting game, because it was an enjoyable anticipation. Every car, I would assume to be her. Every car that turned out not to be, made my heart thump harder. I was a five year old boy once again waiting to open my present.

Full of eagerness.

Finally, a mini turned 180 and pulled over. My intuition suddenly felt like it could win me a million dollars, and it commanded my feet directly to my car.

We were time constrained, but it wasn't necessary for her to drop everything abruptly to meet me. Her rushing was needless.

She mistook me for being part of the game. Not to be taken to heart, because I never took it seriously as well.

We do see parallel though: Shoe shapes and football.

I Don't Want To Be A Fly On Your Wall

I was wandering alone at the night market. Aimlessly. I had no reason to be happy, or sad. It was as mundane as it could be.

Till we finally got acquainted, officially.

It wasn't absolutely unexpected. I could have seen it coming. But at that point in time, it really did not occur to me.

Yes, I was curious to hear her voice. Her greeting was welcoming, yet I replied as though we had been friends since we were kids chasing birds in the yards. I don't know what I was doing. I was excited, can't I be? I was taken off guard, I guess.

We spoke. We exchanged thoughts and programmes. We joked.

Then we decided our date, unofficially.
